Match Recap

* After dropping the first two sets, Holy Family desperately needed to win the third set to keep the match alive and that's exactly what happened.  The Tigers jumped out to an 8-3 lead but the Rams would eventually grab the lead at 15-13.  Holy Family though rallied thanks to back-to-back kills by senior Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) and junior Carly Covington (Delmar, Md./Delmar) to jump start a 8-1 that gave the Tigers a 21-16 advantage. Jefferson would go on to tie the set at 22-22 before the Tigers closed things out with the final three points.

* Holy Family overcame multiple late deficits in set number to force a fifth and decisive set.  The Rams led for the final time at 21-20 as the Tigers answered with four straight points to grab their biggest lead of the set at 24-21.  Three straight kills followed by an attack error by the Rams made it set point for the Tigers.  Jefferson though took advantage of back-to-back errors by the Tigers to come within one point but Pesognelli sealed the set with a kill for the 25-23 win.

* In the fifth and final set the Tigers led the entire time with the exception of the set being tied 1-1.  After the Rams tied the set with a kill, Holy Family surged to seven straight points to lead 8-1.  The Holy Family attack recorded eight kills in the set and only two errors to record a .375 attack percentage.  The final point of the match turned out to be a service error by the Rams to give the Tigers the set win at 15-7 and overall match victory.
