Tigers Fall in Overtime to Mavs, 2-1



Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss in overtime at Mercy College in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Field.

Game Recap
 
* Holy Family struck first and grabbed a first half lead when senior Casey Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) connected on her second goal in as many games.  In the 28th minute, Brown launched a shot from outside the box that found the back of the net after a Mercy turnover. 
 
* The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Tigers until the 59th minute when Trista Seara scored on a breakaway to tie the game at 1-1 with her third goal of the season. 
 
* With the game heading to overtime, Seara gave the Mavericks the win when she tallied her second goal of the game in the 95th minute.  Seara once again scored on a breakaway after beating her defender on her fourth goal of the season.

News and Notes
 
 * Mercy outshot Holy Family by a 17-6 margin and limited the Tigers to just one shot in the second half and overtime combined. 
 
* Sophomore goalkeeper Alayna made a season-high six saves in net for the Tigers; one shy of her career-high.
 
* Brown's goal in the 28th minute marked her second of the season setting a new career-high.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the fourth meeting between Holy Family and Mercy since the 2014 season.  The Mavericks are lead in the all-time series with a 4-0-0 record.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action tomorrow as the Tigers host Queens College in a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Tiger Field.
