Tigers Drop CACC Opener to Lions



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped its home opener to visiting Georgian Court University by the score of 3-0 in the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest of the season on Wednesday night from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

News and Notes
 
* Georgian Court recorded a match-high 41 kills while hitting at a .255 clip to propel past the Tigers in three sets.
 
* Aubrey Binkley led GCU with 13 kills to go along with 13 digs.  Amy Bruno and Kinsey Haschke each produced eight kills.  Shana Rayside made five total blocks on the defensive end with two solo and three assisted.
 
* Senior Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) and junior Carly Covington (Delmar, Md./Delmar) each recorded double-digit kills.  Covington finished with a team-high 11 kills to go along with 13 digs, while Pesognelli totaled 10 kills and two block assists.
 
* Senior Jillian Boyle (North Andover, Mass./North Andover (Rivier College)) led the Tigers with 12 digs, while sophomore Morgan Silks (Norristown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) led the team with 32 assisst.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 36th meeting between Holy Family and Georgian Court dating back to the 2003 season.  The Tigers are now 17-19 versus the Lions in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Friday, Sept. 20 as the Tigers head to Rockville Centre, N.Y. to compete in a four-team tournament at Molloy College.  The Tigers will face Lewis University (3 p.m.) and Molloy (7 p.m.) Friday before facing the University of New Haven on Saturday.
