Tigers Fall to Wildcats in CACC Action



Newark, Del. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Wilmington University by the score of 22-9 on Tuesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

How It Happened
 
* Wilmington opened the game with eight straight goals to take control early on with Taylor Lambeth leading the way with three scores in the opening run.  The Tigers ended the Wildcats' scoring streak when junior Casey Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) scored her first of three goals in the half at the 17:24 mark.
 
* The Wildcats tacked on another four goals to take a commanding 12-1 advantage before Brown came through with back-to-back goals for the Tigers.  Wilmington went on to a take a 13-3 lead into halftime.
 
* In the second half, Wilmington maintained its advantage and swelled its lead to as many 15 as a 6-0 run midway through the half made the score 22-7 by the 8:36 mark. 
 
News and Notes
 
* With her four goals in the game, Brown now has 22 on the season setting a new career-high surpassing last year's total of 19 goals.  She also finished the game with two ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers.
 
* Senior Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) finished the game with three points on two goals and one assist.  Felix also controlled four draws.
 
* Senior Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) added three points as she totaled two assists and one goal. 
 
* Lambeth led the Wildcats with six goals as she finished the game with seven points.  Delaney Steele finished with a game-high 10 points after dishing out eight assists and scoring a pair of goals.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 20th meeting between Holy Family and Wilmington dating back to the 2009 season.  The Tigers are now 13-7 versus the Wildcats in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, April 13 as the Tigers host Felician University in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 12 p.m. at Tiger Field.
