Tigers Drop Home Opener Against Kutztown

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest versus visiting Kutztown University by the score of 19-2 on a frigid Wednesday afternoon.  The game was played at McCarthy Stadium on the campus of La Salle University due to field conditions at Tiger Field.

Score: Kutztown 19, Holy Family 2
Records: Holy Family (0-3, 0-0 CACC) | Kutztown (1-0, 0-0 PSAC)
Location: Philadelphia, Pa. (McCarthy Stadium)
Note: Due to the extreme cold, the game was played in four 15-minute quarters rather than the traditional two 30-minute halves allowing both teams to warm up between quarters.

How It Happened

* Kutztown scored the first six goals of the game before Holy Family found the back of the net minutes into the second period. Freshman Tatceyana Pulley (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington City) came through with an unassisted goal to make the score 6-1.  Kutztown scored on its next possession before Holy Family tallied another score.  However, due to an illegal stick the score was overturned resulting into a turnover.

* The Golden Bears took advantage of the momentum shift and tallied seven straight goals to take a commanding 13-1 lead heading into halftime.

* In the second half the Golden Bears tacked on another six goals with two coming in the third period and four coming in the final frame.

News and Notes

* Senior Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) was the other goal scorer for the Tigers along with Pulley.  Felix recorded her first goal of the season to go along with a team-best five ground balls and seven draw controls.

* Kutztown's Lesley Lane finished with a game-high five points as she totaled four goals and one assist. The Golden Bears had six players score multiple goals in the game.  Emily Smith filled the box score with four points (1G/3A), four ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draws.
