Late Rally Leads Knights Past Tigers



Flushing, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest at Queens College by the score of 18-11 on Monday afternoon at Knights Field.

How It Happened
 
* With the score tied 10-10 midway through the second half, Queens rallied to score eight of the final nine goals of the game to pull off the 18-11 victory.  The Knights outscored the Tigers, 10-2, in the second half. 
 
* Holy Family mounted a 9-5 lead late in the first half thanks to a 6-1 scoring outburst.  Trailing 4-3 midway through the opening half senior Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) tied the game with her first of two goals in the game.  Felix also capped the scoring with a score that gave the Tigers a four-point advantage with 5:18 to play in the first half.
 
* The Knights went on to score the final three goals of the first half to cut the Holy Family lead down to 9-8 prior to halftime.  The momentum carried over into the second half when the squad opened with back-to-back goals to grab the lead for the first time since mid-way through the first half.
 
News and Notes
 
* Seniors Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) and Dana Trevito (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) each scored three goals to lead the Holy Family offense. 
 
* Felix scored two goals as she inched closer 100 points in her career.  She'll enter her next game with 98 career points. Felix also controlled a game-high 10 draws.
 
* Senior Caleigh Gallagher (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and freshman Maura Coleman (Lower Moreland, Pa./Little Flower) each tallied five ground balls and caused two turnovers on defense.
 
* Sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Heath (Philadelphia, Pa./New Foundations Charter School) recorded a career-high 17 saves in net after facing 40 shots by the Knights.  Her 17 saves marked the fifth most in a single game in program history.
 
* The Holy Family offense put the pressure on Queens' goalkeeper Jess Serpe as the Tigers recorded 35 shots; second most this season.
 
* Queen's Maggie Iavarone led all scorers with nine points as she finished the game with five goals and four assists.  Serpe recorded a game-high eight ground balls, while also making 17 saves in net.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the sixth meeting between Holy Family and Queens since the start of the 2010 season.  The all-time series is currently tied at 3-3 with the Knights winning three of the last four match ups.
 
Next Up
Holy Family is idle for a week and will return to action on Tuesday, March 26 as the Tigers open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play hosting Georgian Court University.  Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Tiger Field.
