Tigers Fall Short Versus Bears, 85-82



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest versus visiting Bloomfield College by the score of 85-82 on Saturday afternoon from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family tied the game at 82-82 with less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation after freshman Patrick Robinson III (Chesterfield, N.J./Conwell Egan) knocked down a jumper inside the paint.  The Tigers erased a four-point deficit in the final :90 seconds with Robinson scoring both baskets.
 
* On the following Bloomfield possession the Bears drained a three-pointer with 2.3 seconds left on the clock to lead 85-82.  Rich Chapman, who led the Bears with 20 points, knocked down the go-ahead basket.  After a timeout by the Tigers, Holy Family went the length of the court but was unable to get a shot off prior to the final buzzer. 
 
* Holy Family trailed by as many as 10 points early in the second half after Bloomfield opened with a 17-6 run to lead 62-52 by the 13:55 mark.  Over the next six-plus minutes the Tigers followed with a 15-6 run of their own to come within one point of the Bears' lead.  Freshman Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) made the score 68-67 with 7:12 to play.
 
* Holy Family tied the game at 76-76 after a dunk by junior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)).  The Bears quickly regained the lead before the Tigers tied the game again at 82-82.
 
* The Tigers closed out the first half on an 11-3 run to lead the Bears, 46-45 at halftime.  Holy Family trailed by seven points with 2:50 remaining in the opening half before its run.
 
News and Notes
 
* Robinson led all scorers with a game-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Aughburns added 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds.  He also blocked a game-high three shot.
 
* Freshman Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) contributed 13 points and five assists, while fellow freshman Kharon Randolph (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) came away with 12 points and a team-high six assists.  Esposito also scored in double-figures as he finished with 12 points and five rebounds.
 
* Chapman led the Bears with 20 points as he also finished with 13 rebounds to record a double-double.  Matt Lajeunesse also recorded a double-double after totaling 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 24th meeting all-time between Holy Family and Bloomfield in the Tigers' Division II era dating back to the start of the 2003-04 season.  The Tigers are now 11-13 versus the Bears in the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 13 as the Tigers host the University of the Sciences in a CACC contest. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
