Tigers Fall to City Rival Rams



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest against city rival Jefferson by the score of 79-54 on Saturday afternoon from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

Game Recap
 
* Holy Family held the game's biggest lead in the opening half as the Tigers led by six points on multiple occasions.  Senior Vincenzo Dalessandro (Levittown, Pa./Conwell Egan (Pace Univ.)) gave the Tigers their final six-point advantage with a basket at the 7:35 mark to make the score 16-10.  In a low-scoring half, the Rams outscored the Tigers, 17-7, the final seven minutes to take a 27-23 halftime lead.
 
* The Tigers opened the second half with back-to-back scores to tie the game at 27-27. The Rams then followed with a 12-4 run to take a 39-31 lead at the 14:23 mark.  Holy Family made the score 44-38 after junior Devon Moore (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic (Merrimack College0) scored a layup, but the Rams used a 10-0 run to increase their lead to 16 points (54-38) by the midway point of the half.
 
* The Rams used the deep range shot to fuel their second half surge.  Jefferson knocked down nine three-pointers in the second half after making only three in the first.  As a team the Rams shot almost 60-percent from the field in the second half.
 
News and Notes
 
* Dalessandro led the Tigers with 16 points to go along with nine rebounds. 
 
* Moore also finished in double-figures and came away with 13 points.
 
* Junior Brendan Hoban (Watertown, Mass./Millbrook) added nine points, four boards and four assists, while sophomore Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) tallied six points and eight rebounds.
 
* Deondre Bourne scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Rams.  Bourne shot 9-of-16 from the field and was 6-of-9 from deep range.  He also totaled six rebounds.
 
Next Up
Holy Family is idle until after the New Year.  The Tigers will open the 2020 calendar year on Saturday, Jan. 4 with a CACC match up versus Post University. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
