Tigers Edged by Huskies in Non-Conference Contest



Bloomsburg, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest at Bloomsburg University by the score of 67-62 on Tuesday evening inside the Nelson Fieldhouse.

Game Recap
 
* Bloomsburg closed out the third quarter with a 5-0 run in the final minute to grab 46-45 lead heading into the final quarter.  The Tigers led majority of the third quarter, including a five-point advantage in the opening minute with the score 33-28.
 
* The Huskies opened the scoring in the final quarter with a basket to extend the run to seven unanswered points to lead 52-46.  A three-pointer by senior Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) followed by a steal and a layup score by junior Anjelai Hayes (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) brought the Tigers within one point of the lead at 52-51 at the 8:37 mark.
 
* Bloomsburg quickly responded with a three-pointer by McKenna Hayward and would go on to outscore the Tigers, 12-4, over the next seven-plus minutes to grab a healthy lead at 64-55 with 1:27 to play.  Holy Family dragged the lead down to four points when graduate Mia Ehling (Linden, N.J./Holmdel (St. Francis)) connected with a three-pointer to make the score 64-60 with six seconds left.  Free throws though by the Huskies in the final seconds sealed the victory as the home team converted 4-of-4 from the line in the final five seconds.
 
* Holy Family held the game's biggest lead with a 20-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter.  An 11-0 run by the Huskies to start the second quarter erased the Tigers' double-digit lead.  However, Holy Family entered the locker rooms at halftime with a 31-28 lead.
 
News and Notes
 
* Senior Elizabeth Radley (Hainesport, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) finished with 20 points to lead the team.  It marked her second straight 20-point performance as she also totaled 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season.
 
* Hayes finished the night with 12 points (5-10 FG), while Schweitzer added 11 points (3-6 FG) to go along with four rebounds and two steals.
 
* Taylor Montana led all scorers with 22 points (8-14 FG) to go along with 11 rebounds to record a double-double for the Huskies. Hayward came off the bench and added 18 points after connecting on 8-of-10 from the field.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the sixth meeting between Holy Family and Bloomsburg since the start of the 1997 season.  The Tigers and Huskies are even in the all-time series at 3-3.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 1 as the Tigers hit the road once again to face Shippensburg University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 2 p.m.
