Tigers Dismantle Wolves in Non-Conference Action



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University men's basketball team shot a season-high 53-percent from the field and had three players finish in double-figures as the Tigers defeated Cheyney University by the score of 86-52 in non-conference action on Saturday night from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

Game Recap
 
* The Tigers controlled the game from the opening tip until the final buzzer.  Holy Family jumped out to a quick 22-5 lead within the first six-plus minutes of the game thanks to sharp shooting from all over the court.  Holy Family finished the first half knocking down 20-of-33 attempts from the floor, including six three-pointers.  The offense was paced by junior Brendan Hoban (Watertown, Mass./Millbrook) who dished out 13 of his season-high 15 assists in the first half.
 
* Holy Family finished the first half with a 48-23 advantage and would go on to lead by as many as 35 points in the second half.  Freshman Joseph Paulillo (Westwood, N.J./Paramus Catholic) knocked down a three with one minute remaining in the second half to make the score 86-51.
 
News and Notes
 
* Sophomore Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) finished with a game-high 19 points (8-15 FG) to go along with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Senior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) added 18 points (9-13 FG), seven boards and three blocks, while fellow senior Vincenzo Dalessandro (Levittown, Pa./Conwell Egan (Pace Univ.)) contributed 17 points and five boards.
 
* Freshman Tayquan Busby (Baltimore, Md./Saint Frances Academy) scored a season-high eight points on a perfect night of shooting (2-2 FG, 1-1 3FG, 3-3 FT). 
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked just the second meeting between Holy Family and Cheyney all-time.  The two teams met previously back in 1996 with the Wolves defeating the Tigers, 82-59.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 26 as the Tigers head to Lock Haven University for a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
