Game Recap

* After Holy Family grabbed a 10-9 lead late in the first quarter after a pair of free throws by junior Megan Hughes (Point Pleasant Boro, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro), Mercy went on to close out the final 2:46 of the quarter on a 10-0 to take a 19-10 advantage.  Trinity Hudson knocked down a three-pointer as time expired at quarters end.

* The Mavs run continued into the second quarter extending into a 20-0 run when it was all said and done.  Mercy led by 19 points after a three-pointer by Katie Wall made the score 29-10 at the 7:25 mark. As the half progressed the Tigers chipped away at the Mavs' lead and cut the deficit back down to nine points at the half with the score set at 39-30.

* In the third quarter the Tigers cut the lead all the way down to six points after junior Anjelai Hayes (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) split a pair of free throws to make the score 48-42 with 4:16 to play in the quarter.  However, that would be as close as the Tigers would get as Mercy came up with another large run extending the lead back to double-digits. The Mavs led 60-45 with less than a minute to play in the quarter.  The Tigers were able to come within single digits once more as back-to-back three-pointers by junior Ege-Ly Viirmaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Kadrioru Saksa Gymnasium) and Hayes made the score 60-51 entering the fourth.

* In the final frame the Mavs shot 7-of-11 from the field and were able to hold off the Tigers who were unable to get anything going offensively.  Holy Family connected on only 4-of-16 attempts in the final 10 minutes, including 1-of-6 from deep range.
