Tigers Overpower Warriors With Eight Goals



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team showed off its offensive power with eight goals in front of nearly 700 in attendance for Homecoming 2019 as the Tigers defeated Nyack College, 8-2, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Game Recap
 
* Holy Family wasted no time in grabbing the games first lead.  Within the first :15 seconds the Tigers had a 1-0 advantage thanks to sophomore Kait Findlay (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) connecting on her first of two goals on the afternoon. 
 
* The Tigers tallied four first half goals, including goals from sophomore Yasmine Machlof (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) in the ninth minute and by seniors Susie Blaney (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and Casey Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) in the 39th and 42nd minutes respectively.
 
* Junior Hannah Derby (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) tallied her third goal of the season to jump-start the scoring in the second half with a tally in the 61st minute.  Findlay added her second goal of the day in the 76th minute to make the score 6-0. 
 
* Nyack finally got on the board in the 80th minute when Camila Parada scored her second goal of the season.  Two minutes later Shanice Rapp scored her second goal on the year to make the score 6-2.
 
* Holy Family capped the scoring with goals in the 83rd minute by senior Jess Elliott (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and in the 89th minute by senior Casey Rodgers (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan).
 
News and Notes
 
* The eight goals mark a season-high for the Tigers and the most since last year's season opener when the Tigers defeated Lincoln University, 8-0. 
 
* Derby led the team in points as she totaled one goal and three assists to finish the day with five points.
 
* Findlay's two-goal performance marked her second multiple goal game of the season.
 
* The goals scored by Elliott and Rodgers was the first of their respective careers.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 21st meeting between Holy Family and Nyack since the start of the 2000 season.  The Tigers are now 18-2-1 versus the Warriors in that span.  Holy Family has won five of the last six match ups.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 10 as the Tigers travel across town to face Jefferson in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.  The Tigers and Rams are the only two teams in the CACC with a perfect conference record at 4-0-0.
