Match Recap

*  Holy Family never trailed in the first two sets resulting in a 2-0 match lead.  The Tigers won the first set by the score of 25-18 and carried that momentum over into the second set.  Holy Family opened with an 11-0 run thanks to three aces by senior Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) and three kills by freshman Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley).  Despite never trailing in the set, Jefferson did make things interesting coming within two points of the lead late at 16-14.  Holy Family followed with a 6-0 run and went on to take the set 25-20.

* The momentum switched hands in the third set with Jefferson taking the set, 25-16.  The Rams then went on to take the fourth set by the score of 25-19 to tie the match and force a fifth set.

* The fifth set went back-and-forth to the very end.  Holy Family led 9-6 after breaking a 6-6 tie with kills from Hartney and junior Carly Covington (Delmar, Md./Delmar) along with an ace by freshman Maeve Boylan (Ridley Township, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara).  The Rams responded with six straight points to grab a 12-9 lead.  Holy Family took advantage of attack errors late by the Rams that tied the set at 13-13 and then gave the Tigers a 14-13 lead.  A kill by the Rams Lauren Kloos tied the set before Covington gave the Tigers a 15-14 lead with a kill.  On the ensuing rally the Tigers took the match after an attack error by the Rams closed out the set.
