Overtime Victory Clinches Postseason Berth for Tigers



Waterbury, Conn. - Junior Sean McCormick (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) gave the Holy Family University men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Post University with a goal in the 102nd minute and as a result clinched a postseason berth in next months Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

Game Recap
 
* Holy Family trailed early on in this one after a goal by Andrea Baleotto gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead by the second minute of action. Later in the half the Tigers tied the game at 1-1 when junior Davis Habilaj (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) scored his sixth goal of the season and sixth in his last four games against conference opponents.  Freshman Dakota Taylor (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) assisted on the goal.
 
* The score remained tied through regulation and through the first overtime period.  However, the game wouldn't be tied for much longer as McCormick tallied the game-winning goal :89 seconds into the final overtime period to give the Tigers the sudden victory.
 
News and Notes
 
* Senior goalkeeper Mark Tobin (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic (La Salle Univ.)) had just the one blemish on the day with the early first half goal allowed.  Since the 2nd minute of the game, Tobin held the Eagles scoreless and made four saves after facing a total of 18 shots.
 
*  The win officially clinched a postseason berth into next months CACC Tournament.  The Tigers are qualifying for the postseason in back-to-back seasons for the first time since qualifying from 2006-2012.
 
* Holy Family picked up its eighth win of the season marking the most victories by the team sine winning eight games in 2012. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 24th meeting between Holy Family and Post since the start of the 1999 season.  The Tigers are now 11-10-3 versus the Eagles in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 30 as the Tigers host Georgian Court University in a CACC contest. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Tiger Field.
