Tigers Shutout Golden Falcons on Senior Day



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team came up with a 2-0 victory over Felician University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.  Prior to the game, Holy Family recognized its senior class with a special pregame ceremony in part of Senior Day festivities.

Game Recap
 
* If you blinked you may have missed it.  Holy Family scored the game's first goal within the first two minutes of the game.  Senior Jess Elliott (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) came through with a Senior Day goal, her second of the season, to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.  Fellow senior Susie Blaney (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and sophomore Kait Findlay (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) assisted on the score.
 
* Elliott's goal was the only score for the next 63 minutes of game time until junior Hannah Derby (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) doubled the Tigers lead with her sixth goal of the season in the 66th minute.  Derby launched a shot from about 20-yards out that deflected off the keeper's hands for the score. 
 
News and Notes
 
* Holy Family outplayed the Golden Falcons as the Tigers finished the day with 25 shots with 10 going on-target.  Meanwhile, the defense held Felician to just three shots with all three coming in the second half.
 
* Junior Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and sophomore Alayna McSeed (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) split time in net for the Tigers as the duo combined for the shutout. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 25th meeting between Holy Family and Felician since the start of the 1999 season.  The Tigers are now 17-5-3 versus the Golden Falcons in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 22 as the Tigers host Kutztown University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Tiger Field.
