Tigers Come Up Short Versus Golden Bears



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest to Kutztown University by the score of 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon at RAMP Playground on the campus of Father Judge High School.

Game Recap
 
* Kutztown struck first breaking through a scoreless game in the 51st minute.  Brittany Arentz scored her first collegiate goal to give the Golden Bears a 1-0 lead.  Arentz received a pass from Anna Hull and took a shot from the far right finding the bottom left of the net for the score.
 
* Holy Family would go on to tie the game in the 71st minute thanks to a score by sophomore Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy); her second of the season.  Ziegler launched a shot from 15-yards out after a through pass from junior Cassie Kennedy (Delran, N.J./Delran (Rowan at Burlington County)) set up the scoring play.
 
* The score remained tied until the 82nd minute when Kutztown tallied the eventual game-winner.  Emily Zwiercan connected on her fifth goal of the season after a turnover in the offensive zone and a touch pass from Maggie Cecere led to the score.
 
News and Notes
 
* Sophomore goalkeeper Alayna McSeed (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) made a career-high 11 saves in net for the Tigers after facing 23 shots by the Kutztown offense.
 
* Kutztown held the advantage on shots by a 23-7 margin and also controlled the corner kick opportunities, 14-5.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the sixth meeting between Holy Family and Kutztown since the 2000 season.  The Golden Bears hold the edge in the series with a 4-0-2 record versus the Tigers.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 26 as the Tigers resume Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with a road game at Post University.  Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
