Tigers Fall to Lightning in CACC Action



Wilmington, Del. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Goldey-Beacom College by the score of 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Nancy Chuchman Sawin Field.

* Goldey-Beacom jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first half and never looked back.  The Lightning's Line Kristoffersen scored her 10th goal of the season in the 15th minute to propel the offense.  Goldey-Beacom scored two more times in the opening half receiving goals from Jenna Fannon in the 36th minute and Melayna Immediato in the 45th minute.
 
* Leading 3-0 entering the second half, the Lightning struck early again when Fannon scored her second goal of the game and 13th of the season in the 51st minute.
 
* Holy Family finally got on the board in the 55th minute when junior Hannah Derby (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) connected on her fifth goal of the season.  Junior Lena Staropoli (Perkasie, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) set up Derby off a corner kick attempt as she followed with a header shot for the score.  The goal set a career-high for Derby in a season, while the assist by Staropoli, her third of the season, set a new career-high as well.
 
* Goldey-Beacom capped the scoring in the 80th minute when Hanna Clarke scored her second goal of the season to make the score 5-1.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 25th meeting between Holy Family and Goldey-Beacom since the start of the 2000 season. The Tigers are now 20-4-1 versus the Lightning in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 as the Tigers host Felician University in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 12 p.m.  Prior to the game the Tigers will recognize their Senior Class in part of Senior Day Festivities at Tiger Field.
