Late Run Carries Tigers Past City Rival Griffins, 90-77



Philadelphia, Pa. - All five starters for the Holy Family University men's basketball team scored in double-figures as the Tigers came away with a 90-77 victory over city rival Chestnut Hill College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Wednesday night from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family trailed most of the second half and was down 69-63 with 7:40 to play.  The Tigers executed another late rally scoring the next six points to tie the game.  After Chestnut Hill split a pair of free throws, the Tigers grabbed the lead for the first time since the first half when freshman Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 72-70 at the 5:57 mark.
 
* Over the next five minutes to Tigers would go on to outscore the Griffins, 13-5, capped by a monster slam by junior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) that made the score 85-75 with just about a minute to play.
 
* In the final minute, the Tigers shot 3-of-4 from the free throw line to conserve the double-digit victory.
 
* Holy Family outscored Chestnut Hill, 27-8, over the final 7:40 minutes of the game. 
 
News and Notes
 
* Aughburns led the Tigers with 20 points as he shot 9-of-14 from the field.  He also had five rebounds and two blocks.
 
* Junior Vincenzo Dalessandro (Levittown, Pa./Conwell Egan (Pace Univ.)) recorded his fifth double-double of the season as he finished with 17 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.  He also knocked down 5-of-11 from deep range.
 
* Freshman Kharon Randolph (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) totaled 16 points and was a near-perfect 7-of-8 from the free throw line. He also led the team with six assists.
 
* Montague contributed 14 points and six rebounds, while fellow freshman Patrick Robinson III (Chesterfield, N.J./Conwell Egan) added 13 points (6-9 FG), five rebounds and four assists.
 
* Holy Family as a team shot 12-of-24 from deep range setting a season-high in three-point shooting percentage.
 
* Ed McWade led the Griffins with a game-high 21 points, while Liban Awl finished with 13 points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 23rd meeting between Holy Family and Chestnut Hill since the start of the 2007-08 season.  The Tigers are now 17-6 versus the Griffins in that span and have won the last 10 contests in the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 19 as the Tigers travel to face Felician University in a CACC contest. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
