Tigers Extend Win Streak; Defeat Lions, 82-74



Lakewood, N.J. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team extended its season long winning-streak to four games after defeating Georgian Court University, 82-74, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division contest on Tuesday night at the Wellness Center Arena.

How It Happened
 
* Leading 75-74 with 1:29 remaining in regulation, Holy Family closed the game out on a 7-0 run to hold off the Lions.  After a three-pointer by GCU brought the Lions within one, junior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) grabbed a key offensive rebound and followed through with a layup to give the Tigers a three-point lead.
 
* Holy Family converted 3-of-4 from the free throw line in the final :30 seconds and capped the scoring with a Aughburns dunk in the final seconds.
 
* Holy Family led majority of the first half and led by as many as nine points at the 11:07 mark by the score of 22-13.  Georgian Court eventually rallied and tied the game at 32-32 with just over three minutes to play before halftime.  The Lions led 35-32 before the Tigers grabbed the lead as time expired.  Freshman Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) knocked down a three-pointer to give the Tigers a 37-35 halftime lead.
 
News and Notes
 
* Montague scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Tigers' offense.  He shot 9-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-7 from deep range.  Montague also dished out a team-high six assists to go along with four rebounds and four steals.
 
* Aughburns recorded his third double-double of the season as he finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds tying his season-high. He also totaled three steals and blocked a pair of shots on defense.
 
* Freshman Patrick Robinson III (Chesterfield, N.J./Conwell Egan) finished with 17 points (6-12 FG) while grabbing five rebounds.  Junior Vincenzo Dalessandro (Levittown, Pa./Conwell Egan (Pace Univ.)) also scored in double-figures as he contributed 14 points and four boards.
 
* For the Lions, Caleb Bowser totaled 30 points and 10 rebounds to record a double-double.  Kim Speller also recorded a double-double as he finished with 13 points and 10 boards.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 11th meeting between Holy Family and Georgian Court since the start of the 2013-14 season.  The Tigers are now 10-1 versus the Lions in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 27 as the Tigers host Dominican College in a CACC contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m. from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.
