Tigers Edged by Wildcats in Overtime, 2-1

The Holy Family University men's soccer team suffered its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss of the season after falling to Wilmington University in overtime, 2-1, on Tuesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

How It Happened
 
* Wilmington broke the ice in this one as the Wildcats scored the game's first goal in the 52nd minute to break a scoreless tie.  Daniel Loyo scored his first goal of the season off a Wildcat corner kick attempt.
 
* The Wildcat lead was short lived as Holy Family responded in the 60th minute.  Freshman Will Stackhouse (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) scored his first collegiate goal to tie the game at 1-1. 
 
* Wilmington scored the game-winner in the 97th minute.  Sam Jester scored his fourth goal of the season with Tom Garratt assisting on the play.
 
News and Notes
 
* Junior goalkeeper Mark Tobin (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic (La Salle Univ.)) made a season-high seven saves in net for the Tigers.  He faced 20 shots in the game by the Wilmington offense.
 
* Sophomore Mohamed Elgayar (Philadelphia, Pa. (Egypt)/Northeast) and freshman Joel Richmond (Bridgetown, Barbados/Church Farm) led the team with two shots apiece. 
 
* Wilmington attempted 17 corner kicks in the game, including 10 in the first half.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 20th meeting between Holy Family and Wilmington dating back to the 2000 season.  The Tigers are now 3-14-3 versus the Wildcats in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 27 as the Tigers travel to face West Chester University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 4 p.m.
