Tigers Fall to Lightning, 3-1



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team dropped its first game of the season after falling to Goldey-Beacom College by the score of 3-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Tuesday afternoon at Hunting Park Rec Center.

How It Happened
 
* Goldey-Beacom received two first half goals by Melayna Immediato to jump on top of the Tigers.  Immediato's first goal came in the 20th minute after connecting from a shot from about 25-yards out.  Later in the first half she score again to give the Lightning a 2-0 lead in the 36th minute.  Immediato now has six goals on the year.
 
* The Lightning increased their lead to 3-0 in the second half when Cliona Crammond converted a penalty kick after a Holy Family foul inside the box.  Crammond's fourth goal of the season came in the 60th minute.
 
* Holy Family got on the board late in the second half when sophomore Hannah Derby (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) scored her first goal of the season in the 77th minute.  Derby, on her initial shot hit the post, but was able to beat the keeper to the rebounded ball and was able to tap it in for the score.
 
News and Notes
 
* Sophomore goalkeeper Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) made a career-high seven saves in net after facing 14 shots by the Lightning.
 
* The Goldey-Beacom defense held the Tigers to just one shot in the first half and seven total for the game.  It marked the first time this season that Holy Family was outshot by an opponent.  The Lightning totaled 14 shots for the game.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 23rd meeting between Holy Family and Goldey-Beacom dating back to the 2000 season.  The Tigers are now 19-3-1 versus the Lightning in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15 as the Tigers host Post University in a CACC contest. Game time is set for 12 p.m. at Tiger Field.
