Tigers Drop Season Opener to Skyhawks



Easton, Mass. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team opened the 2018 season on the road versus Stonehill College on Thursday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.  The Tigers were upended by the Skyhawks, 2-0, in the non-conference match up.

How It Happened
 
* Two late goals by the home team turned out to be the difference in the game.  The Skyhawks broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 59th minute when Justin Brehm scored his first goal of the season.  Stonehill doubled its lead in the 76th minute with a goal by Eben Degbor.
 
* Senior goalkeeper Mark Pohl (Feasterville, Pa./Father Judge) finished the game with six saves in net for the Tigers after facing 15 total shots.  Pohl preserved the scoreless tie with two big stops in the final minutes of the first half.
 
News/Notes
 
* Freshman Georg Montag (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) led the Tigers with three total shots, including one on-goal in his collegiate debut.  Sophomore Sean McCormick (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) and newcomer Prince Komoh (Monrovia, Liberia/Kensington Health Sciences Academy) totaled two shots apiece.
 
* Stonehill's Luka Gjuraj recorded a game-high four shots with two on-goal.  Skyhawk keeper Billy Troast picked up the win as he made five saves.

Today's game marked the first-ever meeting between Holy Family and Stonehill.
 
Next Up
Holy Family concludes its New England road trip on Saturday as the Tigers head to Worcester, Mass. to face Assumption College.  Game time is set for 5 p.m.
