How It Happened (Holy Family vs. Wilmington)

* Senior Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.)'s only hit of the game turned out to be a big one.  With the score tied 6-6 in the top of the eighth inning, Favinger launched the ball over the left-center field fence to give the Tigers their first lead of the game and eventual win.

* Prior to Favinger's game-winner, the Tigers tied the score to send the game in extra innings.  Holy Family trailed 6-3 entering the seventh inning, but took advantage of a Wilmington error early in the inning.  With runners at first and second and one out, sophomore Tyler Beccari (Havertown, Pa./Haverford (Temple)) dropped down a bunt but a bad throw allowed Beccari to reach base and for sophomore Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) to score.  Junior Oliva Nolan then delivered a run scoring single to make the score 6-5.  Two batters later, senior Jen Trapp (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) ripped a single to center field to score Beccari and tie the game.

* Wilmington score twice in the first inning and twice more in the third inning to lead 4-0 early on in the game.  The Tigers finally got on the board in the fifth with three runs that were helped out by two Wilmington errors.  The fifth inning rally propelled the Tigers' offense that produced seven runs in the final four frames.

* Orozco (10-9) went the distance to pick up her 10th win of the season.  The victory also marked her fifth consecutive victory in her last five starts.  Orozco struck out six batters; one shy of her season-high.

How It Happened (Holy Family vs. Georgian Court)

* Holy Family nearly pulled off its second comeback victory on the day.  The Tigers trailed 9-4 entering the seventh inning.  Favinger led off with a single up the middle and was followed by a two-run homer by Orozco to make the score 9-6.  Later in the inning, the Tigers cut the lead down to two runs after senior Alyssa Cudeyro (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) drove in Trapp with a single.  However, that would be as close as the Tigers would get as the Lions survived with the two-run victory.

* Georgian Court jumped out to a 5-1 lead before the Tigers rallied with three runs in the fifth inning. Orozco highlighted the inning with a bases loaded two-run single. Nolan also had a run scoring hit to cap the inning as the Tigers cut the lead to 5-4.

Game Notes

* Five different players drove in runs for the Tigers versus Wilmington.  Marigliano (2-5), Orozco (2-4) and Trapp (2-4) all had multiple hits in the game.

* Favinger's game-winning home run in the opener marked her 13th of the season tying the single-season program record for most home runs in a season. Deanna Myers (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) (2010-2013) hit 13 long balls her freshman year back in 2010.

* Orozco went 2-for-4 in game two and drove in four runs.  Her home run in the seventh inning marked her fifth of the season and 10 of her career. She finished the day with four hits and five RBI.

Next Up
Holy Family will now face fourth-seeded Dominican College on Friday in an elimination game.  Game time is set for 11 a.m. at GCU Field #1.
