How It Happened

* After collecting just three hits in the first four innings the Holy Family offense erupted for eight hits in the final three frames resulting in seven runs.  The Tigers plated the first three runs of the game in the top half of the fifth.  Junior Sam Klem (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) led the inning off with a double to left field and later scored on a two-out single by sophomore Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  Senior Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) then stepped to the plate and launched her team-leading sixth home run of season over the left field fence to make the score 3-0.

* Senior Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) (2-8) held the Wildcats scoreless through the first 5.2 innings but Wilmington got to her in the latter part of the sixth.  The Wildcats tallied three runs to tie the game at 3-3 with Jordyn Virden highlighting the inning with a two-run triple.

* The tie wouldn't last as Holy Family quickly responded in the seventh.  With the first two hitters reaching base, Orozco moved both Marigliano and Favinger over into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt.  Sophomore Tyler Beccari (Havertown, Pa./Haverford (Temple)) then delivered a double to right-center scoring both runners.  Junior Olivia Nolan (Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) followed with a double of her own scoring Beccari to make the score 6-3.  Nolan later scored on a Wilmington error to cap the scoring.

* Wilmington wouldn't go quietly as the Wildcats scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit down to one run.  However, Orozco retired the final two batters with the Wildcats stranding runners at second and third.

Game Notes

* Favinger launched her sixth home run of the season setting a new career-high.  It also marked the 20th of her career, as she is now only one of three players in program history to hit 20 or more in a career. She finished the game 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI and two walks.

* Marigliano was one of four Holy Family hitters to record multiple hits in the game as she went 3-for-4 with two runs and a RBI.  Beccari went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run, while senior Alyssa Cudeyro (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) went 2-for-4 with a double.  Klem finished 2-for-3 with a run and a double.

* Orozco picked up her second win of the season as she struck out four hitters. It marked her 37th victory of her career; third most in program history in the team's NCAA Division II era.

* Virden finished 2-for-4 for the Wildcats with two RBI and a triple.  Annie Davila went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBI.
