Tigers Drop a Pair at Felician

Lyndhurst, N.J. - The Holy Family University softball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Felician University by the scores of 6-5 and 6-4 on Saturday afternoon at Lyndhurst Recreation.

Game 1: Felician 6, Holy Family 5
Game 2: Felician 5, Holy Family 4
Records: Holy Family (1-22, 0-9 CACC) | Felician (12-13, 9-1 CACC)
Location: Lyndhurst, N.J. (Lyndhurst Recreation)

How It Happened (Game 1)

* A four-run seventh inning led to walk-off victory for the Golden Falcons in game one.  Trailing 5-2 entering the final frame, Felician plated four runs after the first three batters reached base.  Victoria Quercia recorded the game-winning hit with a single down the leftfield line.

* Holy Family scored three runs in the top-half of the second to grab its first lead of the game at 3-1. Sophomore Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) highlighted the inning with a two-run single.

* The Tigers tacked on a pair of runs in the sixth inning to increase their lead to 5-2. Both runs were the result of an error by the Golden Falcons scoring seniors Koreen Orzoco and Alyssa Cudeyro (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.).

How It Happened (Game 2)

* Just like game one, the nightcap came down to the wire late.  The Tigers trailed 3-1 entering the sixth inning and came away with three runs to grab their first lead of the game at 4-3.  Cudeyro and sophomores Tyler Beccari (Havertown, Pa./Haverford (Temple)) and Julia Vizza (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) all had run scoring hits in the inning.

* In the bottom of the sixth Felician's Jeannette Roldan delivered a two-out single with the bases loaded that scored two runs.  A throwing error by the Tigers forced in the go-ahead run to give the Golden Falcons a 5-4 lead.

*   The Tigers nearly tied the game in the top-half of the seventh.  With a runner on second junior Sam Klem (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) ripped a liner towards shortstop but Felician's C.J. Apacible made a diving catch for the final out not allowing the ball to break through the infield.

Game Notes

* Senior Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) and Cudeyro each had multiple hits for the Tigers in game one with each going 2-for-4 in the game.  Marigliano went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

* In game two the Tigers had four different hitters record run scoring hits.  Marigliano (2-4) and Beccari (2-3) each had a pair of hits in the game.

* Felician's Mia Montoya went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in game one, including a solo home run in the third inning.  Steph Donah also homered for the Golden Falcons as she led the second inning off with a solo homer in game two.

All-Time Series
Today marked 34th and 35th meetings between Holy Family and Felician since the start of the 2002 season.  The Tigers are now 22-13 versus the Golden Falcons in that span.
