New Castle, Del. - The Holy Family University softball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Wilmington University by the score of 8-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Asbury Field.  Game two was called in the top half of the first inning due to rain.  It will be made up at a later date.

Location: New Castle, Del. (Asbury Field)

How It Happened

* Holy Family struck first in its first at-bats.  Small ball led to the Tigers' first run as sophomore Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) led the inning off with an infield hit.  Another infield hit by senior Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) and a wild pitch set the Tigers up with runners at second and third and no one out.  Junior Olivia Nolan (Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) then recorded the team's third infield hit of the inning to score Marigliano to give the Tiers a 1-0 lead.

* The lead was short lived as Wilmington answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.  Lexi Baughman highlighted the inning with a two-run double.  The Wildcats added another run in the second to increase their lead to 4-1.

* Holy Family cut the lead down to one in the third inning thanks to a two-run homerun by Favinger. It marked her team-leading fifth home run of the season and second in as many games.

* The Wildcats responded in the bottom of the fourth with four runs capped by a three-run homer by Mirabella Klebart that made the score 8-3.

* The Tigers added two runs in the sixth inning when Nolan connected on a two-run home run to make the score 8-5.  Her long ball tied Favinger for the team lead and also set a new career-high. It was also Nolan's second in the last two games.

Game Notes

* Favinger finished the game 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.  Her two-run homer in the third inning marked her 19th of her career; third most in program history.

* Nolan went 2-for-4 on the afternoon and led the Tigers with three RBI.

* Freshman Taylor Nichols (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) went 2-for-3 recording her first two collegiate hits.
