How It Happened (Game 1)

* In the opener Dominican scored two runs in the second and two more runs in the third to jump out in front 4-0.  Samantha Fitzgerald drove in the two runs in the third inning with a single down the leftfield line.  She then accounted for the Chargers' run in the fifth with a solo home run to center field that increased the lead to 5-0.

* The Chargers tacked on another run in the seventh when Taylor Gilligan doubled in Fitzgerald to make the score 6-0.

* Holy Family got on the board in the bottom of the seventh after freshman Heather Bogardus (Ridley, Pa./Ridley) doubled to right-center to score senior Alyssa Cudeyro (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) who earlier doubled.

* Dominican's Jenna Maska (4-4) went the distance for the Chargers to earn her fourth win of the season.  She held the Tigers to one run over seven innings.

How It Happened (Game 2)

* In game two, senior Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) (6-9) stifled the Dominican offense as she held the Chargers to just four hits over seven innings.  Orozco recorded her first shutout of the season to pick up her sixth victory on the year.

* Sophomore Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) led the bottom of the sixth inning off with a home run to right-center field to break a scoreless tie.  Senior Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) followed with a drive to left-center that hit off the fence.  Favinger raced around the bases for a triple and continued towards the plate to score after an errant throw made its way passed the third baseman.

* Leading 2-0 the Tigers were able to get out of a potential rally by the Chargers in the seventh.  With runners at the corners and two outs, Orozco forced groundout to the mound to close out the game.

Game Notes

* Senior Jen Trapp (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) went 2-for-3 in game one as she recorded a pair of singles off Maska.

* Marigliano went 2-for-3 with a home run in game two.  Her two hits increased her career total to 96 and now needs only four more to reach 100 for her career.

* Fitzgerald went 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs and three RBI in game one for the Chargers.  She had another hit in game two and finished the doubleheader 4-for-6.
