Tigers Fall to Cougars in Home Finale



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest versus Caldwell University by the score of 23-13 on the final home game of the regular season on Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

How It Happened
 
* Three straight goals by Caldwell in the final 1:35 of the first half turned out to be the turning point of the game.  The Cougars received goals by three different players to break a 6-6 tie after Holy Family tied the game with a goal by junior Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) at the 2:14 mark.  Caldwell's Arden Kassaleh capped the scoring with a goal with 2.7 seconds left in the half to give the Cougars a 9-6 lead.
 
* Caldwell carried the momentum over in the second half even after both team's exchanged goals to open the half.  The Cougars scored four of the next five goals to grab a 14-8 lead by the 23:26 mark. After a goal by Holy Family at the 23:10 mark, Caldwell took control of the game with five straight goals to lead 19-9 with less than 20 minutes to play.
 
* Caldwell outscored the Tigers, 14-7, in the second half and outshot the Tigers, 41-26, for the game.
 
Game Notes
 
* Senior Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) led the Tigers' offense with six goals to go along with nine draw controls.  She now has 49 goals on the season; eighth most in program history in a single season.
 
* Sophomore Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) led the team with five ground balls; one shy of her career-high.  She also caused one turnover. 
 
* Junior Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) finished the game with three goals and totaled four ground balls.  She also caused two turnovers and controlled six draws.
 
* Junior Caleigh Gallagher (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) dished out a career-high three assists to go along with a goal for four points. She also recorded four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.
 
* Kassaleh led the Cougars with eight goals while controlling 13 draws.  Samantha Murphy added five goals and three assists for eight points.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the fifth meeting between Holy Family and Caldwell since the start of the 2014 season.  The Tigers are now 4-1 versus the Cougars in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Sunday, April 22 as the Tigers close out the regular season at Georgian Court University in a CACC match up.  Game time is set for 12 p.m. in Lakewood, N.J.
