How It Happened (Northern State)

* Northern State plated 16 runs in the first two innings to take full control of the game.  Courtney Sjerven led the team with four RBI on a 2-for-2 day.  Mackenzie Thielen went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs, while Natalie Gabbert finished 1-for-2 with three RBI.

* Makenzie Merritt (3-3) picked up the win for Northern State as she limited the Tigers to just three hits and one unearned run in five innings of work.

* Senior Alyssa Cudeyro (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.), junior Olivia Nolan (Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) and sophomore Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) all went 1-for-2 for the Tigers.

How It Happened (Minnesota State Moorhead)

* There was plenty of offense by both teams in this one as the Tigers opened the game with a pair of runs in the first inning.  The Dragons responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.

* After a scoreless second inning both teams tacked on five runs in the third. Cudeyro drove in the first run of the inning for the Tigers with a double to centerfield.  Three batters later freshman Heather Bogardus (Ridley, Pa./Ridley) drove in two with a double to right field.  She would later score on an error.  Sophomore Tyler Beccari (Havertown, Pa./Haverford (Temple)) also had a run scoring hit with a single to center field.

* Holy Family tied the game in the fourth inning when senior Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) connected on her first home run of the season to make the score 8-8.  However, the Dragons grabbed the lead right back with a run in the bottom of the inning.

* The Dragons added three runs in the fifth inning thanks to a three-run homer by Madison Paige.  The Tigers got one of those runs back in the top of the sixth when senior Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) hit her second home run of the season.  Favinger's solo shot made the score 12-9.

* In the bottom of the sixth the Dragons made a comeback for the Tigers more difficult with two more runs extending the lead to 14-9.
