Tigers Come Up Short at Concordia, 72-65



Bronxville, N.Y. - The Holy Family University dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Concordia College by the score of 72-65 on Saturday afternoon at the Meyer Athletic Center.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family held the biggest lead of the first half after freshman Anjelai Hayes (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) converted a pair of free throws at the 7:29 mark of the second quarter.  Her two free shots made the score 33-25 in favor of the Tigers. However, Concordia would go on to outscore Holy Family, 11-3, the rest of the quarter to tie the game heading into halftime.
 
* In the third quarter with the game tied 41-41 at the 5:54 mark, the Clippers used a 7-0 run to grab a 48-41 lead.  Holy Family cut the lead down to three points (48-45) with 2:12 to play, but Concordia hit two big three-pointers down the stretch of the quarter to take a 54-47 advantage into the final frame.
 
* Concordia maintained its lead the rest of the way despite the Tigers coming within two points (54-52) at the 6:17 mark. The Clippers fired back with an 11-5 surge to grab their biggest lead of the game at 65-57 with 1:19 to play. Free throws played a role in the final minute as the Clippers converted 7-of-8 attempts.

Holy Family: Sophomore Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) led the team with 16 points while grabbing seven rebounds… Senior Alexis Hofstaedter (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South (William & Mary)) dished out a game-high seven assists to go along with 14 points… Junior Casey Thomas (Hammonton, N.J./Cedar Creek) finished with 11 points and nine boards, while Hayes totaled eight points and eight rebounds.
 
Concordia: Nicole Nicholson led all scorers with a game-high 22 points after connecting on 5-of-9 from deep range… Hadiyah Black recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while blocking six shots on defense… Amiya Rankins finished with 13 points and five boards off the bench.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the ninth meeting between Holy Family and Concordia dating back to the 2009-10 season. The Clippers' victory is the first in the series as the Tigers are now 8-1.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 21 as the Tigers host Chestnut Hill College in their final home game of the season.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
