Tigers Cruise Past Warriors, 75-55



Nyack, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's basketball team had three players record double-doubles as the Tigers took down Nyack College, 75-55, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) cross division contest on Saturday afternoon at Bowman Gym.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family erased a seven-point deficit late in the second quarter to eventually tie the game at 24-24 after junior Casey Thomas (Hammonton, N.J./Cedar Creek) hit a jumper at the 6:34 mark.  On the team's next possession sophomore Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) knocked down a three-pointer to start an 11-1 run.  Schweitzer capped the run with a layup as the Tigers grabbed a double-digit lead at 35-25 with 3:34 to play in the half.  The Tigers would go on to lead 38-31 at halftime.
 
* With the lead in hand the Tigers came out firing in the second half.  Holy Family outscored the Warriors, 21-13, in the third quarter.  A three-pointer by senior Alexis Hofstaedter (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South (William & Mary)) late in the quarter gave the Tigers an 18-point advantage (56-38) capping an 11-2 run.
 
* Holy Family knocked down a season-high 11 three-pointers and finished the game shooting 44.0-percent from deep range.  The Tigers limited the Warriors to just 31.8-percent shooting overall 15.8-percecnt from three-point range (3-19).

Holy Family: The Tigers had three players record double-doubles in the victory… Thomas recorded her fifth of the season and second in as many games with 12 points and 10 rebounds… Sophomore Elizabeth Radley (Hainesport, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) recorded her second double-double of the season on 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds… Hofstaedter finished with 12 points and a career-high 10 assists to record her first career double-double… Schweitzer led the team in scoring with 21 points while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out six assists.
 
Nyack: Japria Karim-Duvall led the Warriors with a game-high 15 points to go along with nine rebounds… Bryanna Brown added 11 points, while Janae Bailey contributed eight points and 11 rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 22nd meeting between Holy Family and Nyack since the start of the 2002-03 season.  The Tigers are now 20-2 versus the Warriors after winning the previous four meetings.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 13 as the Tigers travel to face Georgian Court University in a CACC South Division match up.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. in Lakewood, N.J.
