How It Happened

* Holy Family trailed by as many as 10 points twice during the course of the second half with the latter coming with 13:28 to play after a free throw by the Rams made the score 52-42.  As the half progressed, the Tigers slowly began chipping away at the lead and eventually tied the game at 69-69 with a pair of free throws from freshman Kharon Randolph (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) with 4:20 to play.

* Randolph split a pair of free throws at the 3:47 mark to give the Tigers their first lead since the first half at 70-69.  However, on the following Rams possession, Thomas Lang converted three free throws to make the score 72-70 in favor of the home team.

* Freshman Patrick Robinson III (Chesterfield, N.J./Conwell Egan) tied the game for the Tigers at the 2:34 mark after connecting on a pair of free throws.  Two possessions later the Tigers grabbed the lead at 74-72 thanks to a Randolph basket that was started with a defensive steal by junior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)).

* With :59 seconds remaining Randolph split a pair of free throws to extend the lead to 75-72, but on the ensuing Rams' possession Derek McKnight knocked down a three to tie the game at 75-75.  A defensive stop by the Rams followed with two free throws by Devin Smith made the score 77-75 with five seconds to play.

* Holy Family tied the game when Aughburns scored a layup basket as time expired forcing overtime with a 77-77 score.

* In overtime, both teams exchanged three-pointers to open the extra period.  Shepherd grabbed the lead with a Lang jumper at the 2:18 mark.  The score remained 82-80 until the final seconds of overtime.  Aughburns grabbed a key offensive rebound and found Randolph beyond the arc for a three-pointer that gave the Tigers an 83-82 lead with less than five seconds to play.  Randolph, who was fouled on the play, missed the free throw but a last second three-pointer by the Rams fell short as time expired.
