Tigers Drop CACC South Division Contest to Wildcats



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest against Wilmington University by the score of 93-83 on Wednesday night from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Wilmington jumped out to a 13-0 run to start the game as the Wildcats mounted their largest lead of the half in the opening minutes.  The Wildcats led nearly the entire first half before the Tigers tied the game at 34-34 in the final minute.  However, Wilmington went on to score the final five points of the half to take a 39-34 advantage heading into the locker rooms at halftime.
 
* In the second half, the Wildcats grew their lead back to double-digits after a tip-in basket by Dawson Grinnage made the score 51-41 at the 15:10 mark.  The Wildcats' lead swelled to as many as 21 points on three separate occasions with the latter coming with 7:38 to play.  A three-pointer by Tyler Norwood made the score 80-59. 
 
* Holy Family cut the lead down to single digits when freshman Kharon Randolph (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) knocked down a three-pointer with :45 seconds left.  Randolph's three made the score 90-81 as the Tigers used a 22-10 rally to cut the deficit down.
 
News and Notes
 
* Randolph scored a game-high 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting to set a new season-best.  He also connected on 9-of-10 free throw attempts and dished out a season-high eight assists.
 
* Junior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) recorded his second double-double of the season as he totaled a season-high 22 points (10-17 FG) to go along with 11 rebounds.   
 
* Dalessandro finished with 12 points (5-9 FG) and six boards, while freshman Patrick Robinson III (Chesterfield, N.J./Conwell Egan) also scored in double-figures with 10 points (5-9 FG) to go along with five rebounds. 
 
* Freshman Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) tallied a season-high 13 rebounds while adding eight points.
 
* Norwood led the Wildcats with 24 points after knocking down six three-pointers (6-10 3FG).  Grinnage nearly came away with a triple-double as he filled the box score with eight points, 13 rebounds and a game-high 11 assists.
 
Next Up
Holy Family is idle until after the New Year as the Tigers next game isn't until Saturday, Jan. 5.  Holy Family will travel to face Post University in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 3 p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
