Second Half Surge Lifts Tigers to Victory



Lincoln University, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team erased a 13-point deficit in the second half to defeat Lincoln University, 81-75, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Manuel Rivero Hall.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family opened the game on a 17-4 run to lead by as many as 13 points by the 13:29 mark of the first half.  Lincoln eventually chipped away at the Tigers lead and tied the game at 19-19 with 8:09 to play in the half.  Both teams exchanged leads the rest of the half before finishing the half tied, 39-39.
 
* With the score tied 51-51 at the 14:32 mark of the second half, it was Lincoln's turn to put the pressure on the Tigers. The Lions went on a 17-4 run capped by a three-pointer by Gevon Arrington to grab their biggest lead of the game at 68-55 at the 9:55 mark.
 
* Still down by 13 points (70-57) with 8:39 to play the Tigers launched a 15-2 run over the next six minutes to tie the game at 72-72 on a layup basket by freshman Kharon Randolph (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School).  On the next Tigers' possession, Randolph converted a pair of free throws to give the Tigers a 74-72 lead with 2:17 to play.
 
* The Lions would go on to tie the game on their next possession but the Tigers responded to grab the lead right back thanks to a jumper by freshman Patrick Robinson III (Chesterfield, N.J./Conwell Egan) with 1:34 showing on the clock.  Both teams would split free throws on their following possessions as the Tigers held the two points lead with :43 seconds left. Holy Family would convert 4-of-6 from the line in the final :30 seconds while the defense kept the Lions off the scoreboard to finish off the come-from-behind victory.
 
News and Notes
 
* Junior Vincenzo Dalessandro (Levittown, Pa./Conwell Egan (Pace Univ.)) recorded his second double-double of the week and third of the season as he finished the game with a game-high 24 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. 
 
* Randolph finished with a season-high 20 points after a near perfect performance at the free throw line converting 11-of-12 attempts.  He also recorded six rebounds.
 
* Robinson also finished in double-figures with 16 points, five rebounds and a team-high five assists.
 
* Freshman Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) added 14 points and four assists.
 
* Lincoln's Deaquan Williams led the Lions with 18 points and a game-high 12 rebounds to record a double-double.  Teammate Zahrion Blue filled the stat sheet with 12 points, six rebounds and a game-high nine assists.
 
All-Time Series
Today's game marked the ninth meeting between Holy Family and Lincoln dating back to the 1996-97 season.  The two teams last met on Dec. 13, 2011.  The Tigers are now 7-2 versus the Lions in that span.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 4 as the Tigers travel to open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play versus city rival University of the Sciences.  Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
