Tigers Edged by Lions in Regular Season Finale



Lakewood, N.J. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team fell short in the regular season finale as Georgian Court University came away with a 1-0 victory in overtime in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Wednesday afternoon at Investors Bank Field.

How It Happened
 
* Overtime was needed to decide a winner as both teams battled through a scoreless regulation.  Both teams recorded six shots in the first half, but Georgian Court put the pressure on the Tigers in the second half holding a 9-2 edge in shots.
 
* In overtime, Georgian Court came through with the game-winner in the 92nd minute.  Anissia Fucci recorded the goal after controlling a rebounded ball off an initial save from Heather Arbachesky's shot. It marked Fucci's eighth goal of the season.
 
News and Notes
 
* Sophomore goalkeeper Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) kept the Tigers in the game as she totaled a career-high 10 saves in net after facing 17 shots by the Lions.
 
* Holy Family wrapped up the regular season with an 8-3-1 record finishing tied for third place in the CACC with Caldwell University.  With the regular season win against the Cougars, the Tigers will be the third seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament.  Holy Family will host Wilmington University in the CACC quarterfinals.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 21st meeting between Holy Family and Georgian Court dating back to the 1997 season.  The Tigers are now 18-11-2 versus the Lions in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Monday, Oct. 29 as the Tigers host Wilmington in the quarterfinal round of the CACC tournament.  Game time is set for 2 p.m. at RAMP Playground on the campus of Father Judge High School.
