How It Happened

* The home team struck first as the Spartans scored in the ninth minute of action after Sarah Colotti converted a penalty kick attempt after a Holy Family foul inside the box.  It marked her third goal of the season.

* The lead would be short lived as Holy Family came through with the equalizing goal in the 24th minute.  Freshman Kaitlyn Findlay (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) scored her fifth goal of the season as senior Bree Rock (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) assisted on the play to tie the game at 1-1.

* The score remained tied for the next 66-plus minutes despite both teams having opportunities to notch the go-ahead goal.  The Tigers were able to get a couple of shots off on-goal in the final few minutes of regulation but Spartan goalkeeper Courtney Dumain made the stop on both shots from junior Susie Blaney (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and Rock.

* In overtime the Spartans came away with the game-winner when Mekenzi Moreau scored in the 95th minute for her third goal of the season.

All-Time Series
Wednesday's contest marked the seventh meeting between Holy Family and St. Thomas Aquinas since the start of the 1997 season.  The Tigers are now 6-1-0 versus the Spartans in the all-time series.
