How It Happened

* Holy Family overcame an eight-point (36-28) halftime deficit to reach the .500 mark at 5-5 in conference play.  Trailing by four entering the fourth quarter, junior Katie O'Hare (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) knocked down a three to open the scoring to bring the Tigers within one point (54-53).  As the quarter progressed the Tigers eventually tied the game at 58-58 at the midway point when sophomore Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) split a pair of free throws.

* With the game tied at 58-58 both teams would exchange baskets seven times over a two minute span before the Tigers grabbed the lead for good when senior Alexis Hofstaedter (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South (William & Mary)) knocked down a jumper to give the Tigers a 66-64 lead with 1:01 to play. On the ensuing possession, the Eagles missed a shot ending the streak of basket-for-basket battle the two teams were engaged in during the final minutes. The Tigers grabbed the key defensive board but turned the ball over on the other end.  However, just as quick as Holy Family turned the ball over the Eagles followed with their own turnover over.  Junior Casey Thomas (Hammonton, N.J./Cedar Creek) picked up the loose ball and as a result gave the Tigers free throw opportunities as Hofstaedter was fouled under the basket.

* Hofstaedter drained both free throws with eight seconds showing on the clock as the Tigers led 68-64.  Outside a Post timeout the Eagles drained a three-pointer on a catch-and-shoot play by Jasmyne Fogle to cut the lead down to one.  Off a timeout by the Tigers the inbound pass went towards the backcourt, as Hofstaedter was able to chew up some clock before being fouled with just over one second left.  She went to the line and made the first of two attempts.  On the miss the Eagles were able to grab the defensive board but were unable to get off a desperation shot before time expired.
