Tigers Fall to Mavericks in Non-Conference Contest



Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team suffered its first non-conference loss of the season as the Tigers fell to Mercy College by the score of 7-1 on Thursday afternoon at Mercy Field.

How It Happened
 
* The Mercy offense erupted for three quick goals in the first 12 minutes of the game.  Natalia Elizarraras scored the game's first goal in the fourth minute and was followed by goals from Heidi Serna in the sixth minute and Haley Noble in the 12th minute.
 
* Before the first half ended the Mavericks added four more goals, including two scores by Corinna Ferrante in the 40th minute. 
 
* Junior Brianna Rock (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) scored the Tigers lone goal in the 63rd minute for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.  Redshirt junior Stefanie Ulmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Delaware Valley HS Center City) was credited with the assist as she increased her season total to five.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the third meeting all-time between Holy Family and Mercy since the start of the 2014 season.  The Tigers are 0-3-0 versus the Mavericks in the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 30 as the Tigers host Concordia College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.  Game time is set for 12 p.m.  Saturday's game is part of Homecoming 2017 at Holy Family as well as Soccer Alumni Day at Tiger Field.
