How It Happened
Dominican opened with back-to-back doubles that eventually led to two runs in the first inning.  Trailing 2-0 before even getting to the plate the Tigers quickly rallied in the bottom of the inning.  Freshmen Alina Ponce De Leon (Menifee, Calif./Heritage) and Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) recorded back-to-back singles to jump-start the inning.  Three batters later senior Brianna Scotto (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) delievered a double to right field to score both runners and in the process tie the game at 2-2.

The game remained tied until the fifth inning when the Chargers erupted for four runs to recapture the lead at 6-2. Taylor Daniels highlighted the inning with a two-run double.

Holy Family cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth when sophomore Olivia Nolan (Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) singled to right field to score junior Tori Hernandez (Benton, Ark./Bryant) to make the score 6-3.  However, the Chargers added two more runs in the seventh led by a leadoff home run by Daniels.

Trailing 8-4 entering their final at-bats the Tigers managed only one run in the inning.  Scotto singled up the middle to score Marigliano.  Scotto finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBI.  Ponce De Leon also had a multi-hit game for the Tigers going 2-for-4 with a run.

For Dominican, Daniels finished the game a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Senior Bailey Walters (Ridgecrest, Calif./Burroughs) (12-5) was the pitcher of record for the Tigers.  She entered in relief for starter Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) who faced two batters in the first inning.  Walters went 6.2 innings and allowed four earned runs on nine hits while striking out two.

Dominican's Jennifer Paride (10-5) earned her 10th victory of the season in a complete game effort.  She held the Tigers to just four runs despite surrendering 11 hits.
