Game One: Holy Family 9, Philadelphia 2
The Tigers found themselves in a 2-0 hole after the first inning when Philadelphia's Jovanna Alfonsi drove in a pair of runs with a double to left-center field. Starting pitcher, senior Bailey Walters (Ridgecrest, Calif./Burroughs), settled down and only allowed three base runners the rest of the way to keep the Tigers in the game.

Holy Family finally struck in the bottom of the third inning with three runs to take the lead for the first time. Junior Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) drove in a run with a base hit to center field before a costly error by Philadelphia led to two more Holy Family runs.  After junior Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) reached on the error to load the bases, senior Brianna Scotto (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) delivered a two-run single to right field to give the Tigers the 3-2 advantage.

Holy Family added two more runs in the fourth inning with run scoring hits by freshman Rachael Zeides (Woodbine, N.J./Ocean City) and Orozco.  The Tigers' offense didn't stop there as the team added four more runs in the sixth inning to take a commanding 9-2 lead.  Freshman Alina Ponce De Leon (Menifee, Calif./Heritage) led the inning off with her third home run of the season.  Following Ponce De Leon's homer, the Tigers drew back-to-back walks and three straight singles that led to runs.  Junior Olivia Nolan (Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) capped the scoring when she drew bases loaded walk.

Walters (9-4) went the distance for the Tigers as she picked up her ninth win of the season.  She allowed two runs on four hits while striking out four batters.  From the second inning on, Walters held the Rams to just three base runners on two hits and a walk.

Scotto finished the game with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate as she drove in a team-high three runs.  Holy Family had five players record multiple hits in the game.

Game Two: Holy Family 5, Philadelphia 2
In the latter game it was Holy Family that jumped out to the early first inning lead.  Ponce De Leon and freshman Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) led the inning off with back-to-back singles.  Favinger then stepped in a drilled a double to left-center field scoring both runners to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

The score stayed that way until the third inning when the Tigers doubled their lead with another pair of runs. Holy Family took advantage of a Rams' miscue in the outfield to plate the first run of the inning.  Orozco drew a one-out walk and then Scotto singled to center field.  However, the ball got past the centerfielder allowing Orozco to score and Scotto to advance to third base.  Junior Jen Trapp (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) then dropped down a bunt but the throw to the plate wasn't in time to get Scotto as she gave the Tigers a 4-0 lead.

The four-run lead was plenty for Orozco (13-9) as she won her 13th victory of the season tying her career-high set last season.  Orozco allowed a pair of runs in seven innings of work and struck out two batters.

Philadelphia scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Holy Family tacked on its final run in the bottom of the sixth.  A double by Ponce De Leon drove in junior Alyssa Cudeyro (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) who led the inning off with a single.

Ponce De Leon finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles.  Favinger drove in a team-high two runs after going 1-for-3.

For Philadelphia, Megan Letos went 2-for-3 with a RBI, while Madison Heno finished 2-for-4 with a runs scored.

All-Time Series
Today marked the 32nd and 33rd meetings between Holy Family and Philadelphia since the start of the 2002 season.  Holy Family has now won five of the last six meetings versus the Rams and holds a 20-13 record in the series.

Senior Recognition
In-between games the Tigers honored Scotto and Walters in a special Senior Day Ceremony recognizing their accomplishments on and off the field during their four years at Holy Family.

Postseason Picture
Holy Family officially clinched its sixth-straight CACC Tournament berth under seventh-year head coach Davon Ortega.  The Tigers are currently third in the conference standings with a 16-6 record.  With four conference games remaining on the schedule, Holy Family still has a chance to move up to second in the postseason pairings and could do no worse than fifth when the seedings are announced next weekend.

Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday, April 25 as the Tigers host NYIT in a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is set for 2 p.m. at Bensalem High School.
