Booth Sets New Program Record at Caldwell



West Caldwell, N.J. - Senior Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) became the program's all-time leader in ground balls as the Holy Family University women's lacrosse team headed north to face Caldwell University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Wednesday afternoon at the Essex Valley Field.  The Cougars came away with a 21-11 victory.

How It Happened
After Holy Family scored two of the game's first three goals to take an early 2-1 lead, Caldwell rallied for seven unanswered scores to take grab an 8-2 advantage by the 10:16 mark of the half.
 
The Tigers broke into the Cougars' surge when sophomore Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) tallied a scored at the 8:35 mark, but Caldwell responded with four straight goals to increase its lead to 12-3.  Sophomore Dana Trevito (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) connected on her second goal of the half in the final minute to cut into the lead as Caldwell led 12-4 at the half.
 
Holy Family came within seven goals down the stretch when junior Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) scored her team-leading fourth goal of the game at the 7:01 mark of the second half.  However, the deficit was too large for the Tigers to overcome as Caldwell ended the game on a 4-2 run.

Holy Family: Bachmayer led the team in scoring as she finished with five points (4G/1A) to go along with a game-high seven ground balls… She also controlled eight draws and caused three turnovers…Trevito and senior Nicole Mansi (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.) each scored a pair of goals… Booth became the program's all-time leader in ground balls as she finished the game with five to add to her career total… Booth also caused three turnovers….Junior goalkeeper Amber Frechette (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) made 11 saves in net for the Tigers.
 
Caldwell: Arden Kassaleh scored a game-high eight goals to lead the Cougars' offense… She also posted 11 draw controls… Maryellen McCarthy finished with five goals and one assist, while Rachel Lucia came away with two goals and two assists… Lucia also picked up a game-high 11 ground balls and caused nine turnovers.
 
All-Time Record
Booth entered the game one ground ball away from tying Jessica Maloney's (2010-13) all-time record of 159 and with her ground balls at the 24:21 mark and at 22:18 of the first half set the new program standard.  She finished the game with five ground balls and now has the program record with 162 career ground balls.
 
Next Up
Holy Family will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, April 22 as the Tigers travel to face Wilmington University in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
