Tigers Drop Conference Match at GCU, 19-4



Lakewood, N.J. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Georgian Court University by the score of 19-4 on Saturday morning at the GCU Track & Field Complex.  The game was originally scheduled to be played at Tiger Field but due to recent rain and field conditions, the game was shifted to Georgian Court's turf field.

How It Happened
Georgian Court took control of the game early on by scoring the first five goals of the contest.  The Lions had a 5-0 advantage before Holy Family lit up the scoreboard with a goal from sophomore Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) at the 21:42 mark.
 
The Lions counter with five more unanswered goals to grab a 10-1 lead with less than 12 minutes to play in the half.  Junior Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) halted the Lions run with the first of two scores for her on the morning.
 
Georgian Court added three more goals before the half came to an end and led 13-2 at halftime. In the second half, the Lions outscored the Tigers, 6-2.  Holy Family received goals by Bachmayer and sophomore Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) in the second half.
 
Inside the Box Score
Holy Family: Bachmayer led the Tigers with a pair of goals to go along with one caused turnover… Felix led the team with four ground balls to go along with her goal… Senior Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) finished with three ground balls and caused one turnover, while sophomore Caleigh Gallagher (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) picked up three ground balls… In net junior Amber Frechette (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) recorded a career-high 15 saves while causing two turnovers… Frechette was also credited with two ground balls.
 
Georgian Court: Taylor Bauerband and Nicole Barbella each totaled seven points on the day for the Lions… Bauerband led the team with five goals to go along with two assists, four ground balls and four caused turnovers… Barbella finished with two goals and a team-high five assists… Samantha Fernandez set the tone for the Lions as she controlled a game-high eight draws while scoring three goals.
 
Rewriting History
Booth officially tied the program's all-time record for most caused turnovers of 58 set by former standout Kimber Kisselback (2012-2015).  With her next caused turnover, Booth will hold the record outright setting a new program standard. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 18th meeting all-time between Holy Family and Georgian Court dating back to the 2009 season.  With the win the Lions evened the series at 9-9 and extended their winning streak versus the Tigers to two games.  Prior to GCU's recent streak, Holy Family won nine straight games against the Lions.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Thursday, April 6 as the Tigers head north to face Post University in a CACC contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
