How It Happened
Trailing 3-1 in the fifth inning, the Tigers plated three runs in the inning to grab their first lead of the game and in the process overcome a two-run deficit.  Freshman Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) got things going with a one-out pinch-hit single and was followed with another single by freshman Alina Ponce De Leon (Menifee, Calif./Heritage).  Senior Brianna Scotto (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) followed the trend and singled through the right side to drive in Marigliano.

Junior Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) capped the run of four straight hits with a single to right field to score Ponce De Leon to tie the game at 3-3.  Junior Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul), the fifth consecutive batter to reach base, advanced on an infield error by Grand Valley that allowed Scotto to score the go-ahead run.

Orozco (1-2) held the Lakers scoreless the final two frames to give the Tigers their first win of the season.  She went the distance allowing three runs (1 earned) on 10 hits.
