Tigers Shutout by Mavericks in Non-Conference Tilt



Conshohocken, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team suffered a non-conference loss to visiting Mercy College by the score of 19-0 on Thursday afternoon at The Proving Grounds Sports Fields.

How it Happened
Mercy scored five goals within the first five minutes of action and never looked back.  The Mavericks fired 23 shots in the first half on their way to a 12-0 lead heading into halftime.
 
The Mercy offense tacked on another seven goals in the second half while its defense kept the Tigers off the scoreboard.  Holy Family managed just three shots throughout the course of the game.

Holy Family: Sophomore Caleigh Gallagher (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) had a career day as she totaled a game-high eight ground balls and caused five turnovers setting new career-highs in both categories…Senior Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) picked up four ground balls and caused one turnover…Junior Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and sophomore JoAnne Mamie (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) each recorded a pair of ground balls… Junior goalkeeper Amber Frechette (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) made eight saves in net.
 
Mercy: Nine different players scored goals for the Mavericks with Alexa Haines leading the way with six goals… Haines also picked up two assists to finish the game with eight points…Katherine Sanchez totaled three goals, while Tori DiFusco and Hunter Isnardi each scored twice… Isnardi also finished with a game-high 14 draw controls to go along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the sixth meeting all-time between Holy Family and Mercy dating back to 2010.  The Mavericks have won the last two games in the series and hold the edge in the series with a 4-2 record.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, March 25 as the Tigers resume Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play by hosting Nyack College.  Game time is set for 12 p.m. at Tiger Field.
