Game One: Adelphi 1, Holy Family 0 (9 Innings)
The opener turned out to be an old fashion pitching duel between Holy Family junior starter Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) and Adelphi starter senior Lindsay Mapes.  Both pitchers went the distance for their respective squads, as extra innings were needed to determine a winner.

The only run in the game came in the bottom of the ninth inning as Adelphi scored the game-winning run on an infield hit.  Senior Danielle Cutuli came through with a one out single and would advance to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior Fallon McCarthy.  Cutuli advanced to third after a Holy Family error before scoring the walk-off run when junior Krista King reached base on an infield hit.  Cutuli beat the throw to the plate to give the Panthers a 1-0 victory.

Orozco (5-4) went 8.2 innings for the Tigers allowing one unearned run off seven hits.  She finished the game with five strikeouts.  Her counterpart, Mapes (5-3) received the victory as she held the Tigers to four hits in nine innings of work while striking out five.

Game Two: Adelphi 7, Holy Family 4
A five-run third inning by Adelphi ended up being the turning point in the game.  After Holy Family scored a pair of runs in the top half of the inning thanks to back-to-back bases loaded walks, the Panthers responded with five runs.

Junior Brenna Martini led the inning off with a home run to left field before back-to-back triples by junior Nicole Camera and sophomore Lauren Sandelier led to another run by the Panthers.  Junior Megan Lewis drove in Sandelier with a double and would later score on an infield hit.

Adelphi added two more runs in the fourth inning with run scoring hits by Martini and Camera to increase its lead to 7-2.

Holy Family would cut into the Panthers' lead in the top half of the sixth inning with a pair of runs.  Orozco led the inning off with a double and would later score on a single by freshman Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge).  Freshman Rachael Zeides (Woodbine, N.J./Ocean City) also scored on the play as she reached base on a walk earlier in the inning.

Sophomore Kristin Fealy (1-4) earned her first win of the season as she went 4.0 innings allowing two unearned runs on three hits while striking out two.  Sophomore Jessica Vadala pitched the final three innings for the Panthers as she allowed two runs on a pair of hits.

Marigliano finished the game for the Tigers with two hits (2-4).

All-Time Series
Today marked the seventh and eighth meetings all-time between Holy Family and Adelphi.  The Tigers are now 2-6 in the series with the Panthers.
