Tigers Drop Non-Conference Match Up at Millersville



Millersville, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest at Millersville University by the score of 16-2 on Saturday afternoon at Biemesderfer Stadium.

How It Happened
Millersville scored the game's first four goals before Holy Family lit up the scoreboard.  Sophomore Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) tallied her first goal of the season to cut the lead down to 4-1 at the 12:46 mark of the half.
 
However, Millersville would go on to score the game's next 11 goals before Holy Family managed another score.  Junior Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) came through with a goal in the final minutes of the second half off an assist from Felix.
 
Inside the Box Score
Holy Family: Senior Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) caused a game-high eight turnovers on defense to set a new single-game program record…Coyle also tied her career-high with seven ground balls to lead the team…Felix led the team with two points (1G/1A) while recording three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
 
Millersville: Sabrina Fusco finished with a game-high four goals to go along with two assists to total six points in the game… Renee Landis totaled a game-high seven points after scoring three goals and assisting on four others… Sarah Leverentz added two goals while leading the team with five ground balls and five draw controls.
 
Record Breaking Performance
Coyle's eight caused turnovers set a new single-game program record breaking the previous mark of five set by two former standouts.  Marissa Lawson tallied five caused turnovers at Post University in 2011 and Brigit LaRose recorded the same amount at Philadelphia University in 2014.  With her eight caused turnovers, Coyle now has 41 in her career, which ranks eighth most in program history.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the third meeting all-time between Holy Family and Millersville since the 2014 season.  The Marauders have a slight edge in the series with a 2-1 record.  
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action a week from today (March 18) as the Tigers host Kutztown University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 12 p.m. at Tiger Field.
