Tigers Fall to Le Moyne in Non-Conference Action



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest versus Le Moyne College by the score of 74-59 on Saturday afternoon inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Le Moyne opened the game on a 16-3 run over the first six minutes to take control early. The Dolphins finished the first quarter with an 18-9 lead.  In the second quarter the Tigers cut into the lead and trailed by one possession on two separate occasions.  The latter coming at the 7:44 mark when sophomore Elizabeth Radley (Hainesport, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) knocked down a jumper to make the score 20-17.  However, Le Moyne followed with an 8-1 run to claim a double-digit lead with two minutes to play until halftime.  Neither team managed a basket in the final two minutes as the Dolphins led, 28-18, at the half.
 
* In the third quarter Le Moyne outscored the Tigers, 30-18, as the Dolphins increased their lead to as many as 27 points.  The Dolphins led 58-31 with 1:20 to play in the quarter after a jumper by Corinne Poitevien. 
 
* Le Moyne maintained its advantage throughout the final 10 minutes of the game despite the Tigers cutting the lead down to as low as 13 points.  Senior Alexis Hofstaedter (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South (William & Mary)) converted a pair of free throws to make the score 68-55 with under two minutes to play. 
 
Inside the Box Score
Holy Family: Radley led the Tigers with 22 points off the bench as she recorded 20-plus points for the second time in three games… Radley shot 6-of-12 from the field and was a near perfect 7-of-8 from the free throw line… She also led the team with seven rebounds and three steals… Hofstaedter also scored in double-figures as she added 10 points, five rebounds and four assists… Freshman Jada Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) finished with nine points and five boards, while juniors Katie O'Hare (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) and Casey Thomas (Hammonton, N.J./Cedar Creek) along with sophomore Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) each added six points and three rebounds.
 
Le Moyne: McKayla Roberts led the Dolphins with 22 points after connecting on 8-of-15 from the field, including 3-of-5 from deep range… Madison Purcell totaled 13 points, while Nicole Riddick finished with 12 points and six rebounds… Corinne Poitevien totaled a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with eight points.  
 
All-Time Results
Today marked the second meeting between Holy Family and Le Moyne in the all-time series.  The Dolphins are now 2-0 versus the Tigers.

Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 3 as the Tigers resume conference play versus Georgian Court University.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. from inside the Campus Center.
