Tigers Overpower Lions in CACC Action, 92-68



Philadelphia, Pa. - Sophomore Elizabeth Radley (Hainesport, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) and freshman Jada Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) each recorded double-doubles as the Holy Family University women's basketball team defeated Georgian Court University, 92-68, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Wednesday night inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Leading 52-51 with two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Holy Family scored the final nine points of the quarter to grab the game's first double-digit lead.  The Tigers entered the final quarter with a 61-51 advantage after Smith capped the run with a fast-break basket after forcing a turnover on defense.  Smith, who was fouled on the play, converted the free throw for the three-point play.
 
* In the fourth quarter the Tigers maintained control of the game and swelled its lead to as many as 25 points.  Holy Family led 67-58 after the Lions brought the lead back down to single digits for the final time with 7:24 remaining.  The Tigers would go on to outscore their opponent, 19-3, over the next five-plus minutes to lead 86-61.  Junior Casey Thomas (Hammonton, N.J./Cedar Creek) finished the rally with a three-point play after being fouled on a jump shot.

Holy Family: Smith recorded her team-leading seventh double-double of the season and her fourth in the last five games as she finished with 18 points and 13 boards… Smith shot 7-of-11 from the field and on the defensive end blocked a season-high five shots… Radley recorded her first career double-double after scoring 16 points and tying her career-high with 11 rebounds… Senior Alexis Hofstaedter (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South (William & Mary)) filled the stat sheet with 15 points, six rebounds and a game-high eight assists… Thomas finished the game with 13 points, while sophomore Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) added 12 points… Junior Katie O'Hare (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) also scored in double-figures as she finished the night with a season-high 13 points and five rebounds.
 
Georgian Court: Jaelyn Tweedy led the Lions with 16 points, while Jess Placher finished with 12 points off the bench… Nerea Brajac finished with 10 points… Carna Prokic added eight points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out seven assists.
 
Season High Performance
Tonight's win marked the Tigers' highest margin of victory of the season… Holy Family shot a season-high 46.6-percent from the field and in the process knocked down a season-best nine three-pointers… The Tigers connected on 9-of-21 from deep range… Holy Family also committed a season-low eight turnovers and defensively blocked a season-high seven shots.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 29th meeting between Holy Family and Georgian Court since the Tigers joined Division II back in 2003-04.  The Tigers are now 28-1 versus the Lions in the series.
