How It Happened

* Holy Family trailed by as many as 15 points with :30 seconds remaining in the first half before freshman Anjelai Hayes (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) knocked down a three-pointer to close out the scoring.  The Tigers faced a 43-31 deficit entering the second half.  Hayes' three-pointer carried over into the third quarter as Holy Family used a 16-3 run to grab its first lead of the game.  A layup basket by sophomore Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) gave Holy Family a 47-46 advantage.

* Holy Family added five more unanswered points to grab a five-point lead (51-46) with just under three minutes to play in the third quarter.  Chestnut Hill responded and would tie the game and before the quarter was over regained the lead after Mary Trossi converted a pair of free throws in the final second to give the Griffins a 56-53 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.  The Tigers outscored the Griffins, 22-13, in the third quarter.

* In the fourth quarter, Holy Family grabbed the lead with 3:54 to play when Schweitzer drained a three-pointer to make the score 65-64.  The Griffins would go on to tie the score twice but each time Holy Family responded to hold a one-possession advantage.  However, the third time was the charm for the Griffins as they tied the game at 68-68 with one minute to play and on their next possession took the lead with a layup basket by Jaeda Wildgoose.  With the lead, the Griffins' defense forced a turnover on the Tigers' following possession forcing Holy Family to foul. Wildgoose converted a pair of free throws to increase the lead to 74-68.  Senior Alexis Hofstaedter (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South (William & Mary)) quickly scored for the Tigers to make it a two-point game with six seconds to play.  Forced to foul again, the Griffins split a pair of free throws with two seconds remaining but Holy Family was unable to get a shot off to potentially tie the game before time expired.
