Late Surge Gives Huskies Edge Over Tigers



Bloomsburg, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest at Bloomsburg University by the score of 86-67 in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night inside the Nelson Field House.

How It Happened
 
* Bloomsburg used a 9-0 run in the second half to take control of a back-and-forth game.  Leading 54-53, the Huskies scored nine unanswered points to grab the game's first double-digit lead.  Hashim Moore capped the run with a layup to make the score 63-53 with 8:55 to play in the half.
 
* Holy Family dropped the deficit down to single digits over the next few minutes, but the Huskies used another big run to pull away for good.  Bloomsburg went on an 18-6 to swell its lead to as many as 20 points (83-63) with under two minutes left in regulation.
 
Inside the Box Score
Holy Family: Sophomore Maliq Sanders (Voorhees, N.J., Eastern Regional) and freshman Terrell Jones (Ardmore, Pa., Lower Merion) each recorded a double-double in the contest… Sanders finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds to go along with four assists and three steals, while Jones came off the bench to total 16 points, 10 rebounds and three assists… It marked the first double-double of the season for both players… Junior Mekhi Bryant (Fairless Hills, Pa., Pennsburg (Baltimore City C.C.)) led the team with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field, including 4-of-8 from deep range.
 
Bloomsburg: Christian Mortellite and Moore each scored 19 points to lead the Huskies… Mortellite recorded a double-double as he added a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with six assists… Moore grabbed seven boards to go with his 19 points… Matthew Kachelries came off the bench and added 18 points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked just the second meeting between Holy Family and Bloomsburg.  The last meeting took place nearly 12 years to the date back on Nov. 19, 2005 as the Tigers came away with an 80-68 victory over the Huskies.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 26 as the Tigers travel to Queens College to face the Knights in a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
